Organised by Joana Preto, this third edition gathered nurses, doctorr, pharmacists and other health technicians
The morning began with Skin vs. Non-Invasive Ventilation, finding the balance, presented by Joana Preto herself, followed by Elisabete Soares (Nurse, IPO Porto, Oncology Radiotherapy Workgroup of the AEOP) on Radiotherapy and Radiodermatitis, a theme that sits at the very heart of the day's purpose.
After the coffee break, Ana Pereira (Nurse, Hyperbaric Medicine, Hospital da Luz Lisboa) addressed Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and João Paulo Rema (Psychiatry, Hospital de Cascais) turned to a more unsettling territory with Dysmorphia, mental health in the age of filters and the perfect image, a session that quietly reframed the entire conference around the psychological weight the skin carries.
The second half of the morning brought Joana Perdigão (Biochemist) questioning Ingredients used in skin care, is the sky the limit?, and Inês Marques Mayworm (General and Family Medicine, Aesthetic Medicine) exploring The beauty chip, the role of hormones in the skin.
The programme closed with a motivational note, Priscilla Tomé (Clinical Psychologist) on Emotional intelligence as a tool for health professionals, returning the conference, fittingly, to the caregiver rather than the patient.
In the afternoon (15h00–17h00, Multipurpose Room), a post-course workshop dedicated to Oncology treatment-induced hair loss was led by Joana Preto and Ana Barros (Pharmacist, specialist in Dermocosmetics), extending the day's reflection from skin to hair, another visible territory where illness and identity meet.
Taken as a whole, the programme traced a single, coherent line: from the physiology of the skin under treatment, through its psychological weight, to the emotional resilience it demands of those who care for it. A conference that, true to its title, never separated the tegument from the self.
