#Scientific Communication - 18th ANEDIDIC Congress, Madrid -

Notes from the stage of the 18th ANEDIDIC Congress, Madrid

Context

Velázquez arranged his mirrors with such precision that the viewer could no longer say where representation ended and reality began.

This was the reflection behind my participation at the 18th ANEDIDIC Congress in Madrid, where I presented "Nursing and Dermocosmetics: How to Communicate?" Not everything that sounds scientific is clinically aligned, and nowhere is that gap more visible than at the point where a clinical discipline meets a commercial vocabulary.

Content

  1. Skin as identity, not ornament
Skin is never "just aesthetic". Across oncology, dermatology and hospital practice, it has shown itself, again and again, to be identity, dignity and quality of life. Any communication that treats it as surface alone has already lost its clinical footing.

  2. Clarify, don't merely simplify
Popular dermocosmetic communication tends to reduce complexity for reach. The more demanding task, and the more honest one, is to clarify: to contextualise a claim and align consumer expectation with clinical reality and skin biology, rather than trading one for the other.

  3. My work as translator, not intermediary
To occupy that place well is not to soften what science says, nor to dress it for effect. It is to carry a clinical truth across into another register (editorial, commercial, emotional) without a single molecule of its meaning lost along the way.

Outcome

This presentation also reflects part of the strategic work I develop with companies across the health and cosmetic sectors, through Scientific Communication, Education and Scientific Affairs, and Brand Communication Strategy, helping align clinical evidence, professional practice and brand narrative. Perhaps the future of dermocosmetics depends not only on innovation, but on how responsibly we communicate what we promise.

Science explains. Culture shapes. Communication amplifies. Beauty inspires.
